Boys and girls ages 8 and above who assist at Mass and other special liturgies. A training program is required and is offered in a class or on an individual basis.

Altar Society & Flowers for the Altar/Sociedad del altar & flores para el altar

The Altar Society is a group of parishioners who prepare and care for the Altar, sanctuary, Mass vessels, vestments, and candles. Altar Society members are also available to coordinate with parishioners desiring to place flowers on the altar to remember an anniversary, birthday, death, or other important occasions. Meetings are held on the first Monday of the Month in the Parish Hall.
La Sociedad del Altar es un grupo de feligreses que preparan y sienten cariño por el Altar, santuario, elementos sagrados y accesorios, vestiduras y velas. Los miembros de la Sociedad del altar también están disponibles para coordinar con feligreses que desean colocar flores en el altar para recordar un aniversario, cumpleaños, muerte o otra ocasión importante. Extraordinary Ministers are trained and commissioned to assist with the distribution of the Eucharist during Mass, on a rotating schedule. All confirmed Catholic members of the Parish are eligible to serve in this role.

Smiling faces wanted! This ministry offers friendly and smiling faces at the door in the Narthex before each Mass, welcoming newcomers, visitors, and parishioners alike. They offer visitors information on how to become members of the St. Mary’s Parish Community.

As liturgical ministers, the ushers serve the Parish by welcoming parishioners and visitors to Mass, assisting them in being seated, collecting the Offertory, and seeing to the good order of the Mass. Ushers participate weekly on a rotating schedule and meet semi-annually as required.

A Lector is the person who proclaims the first and second readings at the Mass and leads the Prayers of the Faithful. The Lector should have a good speaking voice and believe that Sacred Scripture is the Word of God. Lectors have a deep respect for God’s presence in the Word.
