Sister Carmen Gordillo, Hispanic MinistryIn Memoriam
Sister Carmen was a member of the Order of Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, A.G., of Humantla, Mexico; she was the Hispanic Ministry Coordinator and Pastoral Assistant at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rome, Georgia. Prior to her assignment in Rome, she was a Pastoral Assistant and Hispanic Ministry Associate at Catholic parishes in Atlanta, Chattanooga, Jonesboro, and Calhoun, Georgia.
Sister Carmen was born in Chiapas, Mexico to Moisés and Ángela Gordillo in 1970; she is survived by three sisters, three brothers, and a number of nephews and nieces. Sister Carmen had a degree in Early Childhood Education from the Yermo y Parres College in Puebla, Mexico and had been an elementary school teacher and school principal prior to becoming a Religious Sister. She was a graduate of several theological programs and institutes in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. A very spiritual woman of strong faith, Sister Carmen's favorite Bible verse was Jeremiah 31, 3 " I have loved Thee with an everlasting love".
Our whole community is extremely grateful to Sister Carmen, for her Pastoral Zeal and Motherly Love to all in our Community. Our fraternal love and condolences to the Gordillo García Family in Mexico, and to the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Ad Gentes.
Sister Carmen Gordillo Garcia, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020, at Emory Health Care in Atlanta.

La Hermana Carmen era miembro de la Orden de las Hermanas Misioneras del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, A.G., de Humantla, México. Al momento de su muerte, ella era la Coordinadora del Ministerio Hispano y Asistente Pastoral en la Iglesia Católica de Santa María, Rome, Georgia. Antes de su asignación en Rome, fue Asistente Pastoral y Asociada del Ministerio Hispano en parroquias católicas en Atlanta, Chattanooga, Jonesboro y Calhoun, Georgia.
Hermana Carmen nació en Chiapas, México, de Moisés y Ángela Gordillo en 1970; Le sobreviven tres hermanas, tres hermanos y varios sobrinos y sobrinas. La Hermana Carmen tenía un grado en Educación Infantil del Colegio Yermo y Parres en Puebla, México, y había sido maestra de escuela primaria y directora de escuela antes de convertirse en Hermana Religiosa. Se graduó de varios programas e institutos teológicos en la Arquidiócesis de Atlanta. Una mujer muy espiritual de mucha fe, el versículo bíblico favorito de la Hermana Carmen era Jeremías 31, 3 “Con un amor eterno, te he amado”.
Toda nuestra comunidad está extremadamente agradecida a la Madre Carmen, por su celo pastoral y amor materno a todos en nuestra comunidad. Nuestro amor fraterno y condolencias a la Familia Gordillo García en México, y a las Hermanas Misioneras del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, Ad Gentes. La Madre Carmen Gordillo García, de 49 años, de Rome, GA, falleció el viernes 29 de mayo de 2020 en Emory Health Care en Atlanta.
Descanso eterno le concédele Señor, y que brille para ella la luz perpetua. ¡Que la Madre Carmen descanse en paz! Amén.

Michele Eickman, Director of Faith Formation, Religious Education and Youth Ministries.I am an Arkansas native and moved to northwest Georgia in March 2014 after living in the Midwest for 15 years. My husband Tim and I have been married for almost 25 years and have four children- Drew, Will, Nate, and Annie. After receiving the sacraments of initiation in the Catholic Church in 2000, I have poured myself into serving God through volunteering with a variety of ministries in many different parish locations. In June 2019, I began working full time for St. Mary's, as the Director of Faith Formation and Youth Ministry. I am so grateful for the privilege of walking with families as they encounter Christ, receive the sacraments, discover their faith, and grow in community with St. Mary's parish. AMDG Nací en Arkansas y me mudé al noroeste de Georgia en marzo de 2014 después de vivir en el Medio Oeste durante 15 años. Mi esposo Tim y yo hemos estado casados durante casi 25 años y tenemos cuatro hijos: Drew, Will, Nate y Annie. Después de recibir los sacramentos de iniciación en la Iglesia Católica en el año 2000, me he dedicado a servir a Dios a través del voluntariado en una variedad de ministerios en diferentes parroquias. En junio de 2019, comencé a trabajar tiempo completo para Santa Maria, como Directora de Formación en la Fe y Ministerio Juvenil. I fell in love with Christ through St. Mary's Community, therefore, serving St. Mary's Parish as parochial secretary and Bulletin Editor is a great blessing! LouAnn Ellsworth, Bookkeeping AssistantI have been a member of St. Mary's since 1995. I have been serving St. Mary's by working with Parish School of Religion since 2001 and in my current role as the bookkeeper assistant. He sido miembro de Santa Maria desde 1995.
